Heartbreak Healing"I just don't understand!" she cried, "what did I do to deserve this? I'll tell you what I did-nothing! I did nothing to deserve this!" She collapsed onto her bed and cried into her hands.

She didn't deserve to have him dump her. She did nothing wrong. So why did he do it? No one knows. Her best friend sat down on the bed next to her.

"You need to cheer up," she told her, "you don't need a man to make you happy. You're beautiful. And you're prettiest when you're happy." She wrapped an arm around her and put her head on her shoulder. They'd been friends for as long as they could remember, and they were always there for each other.

Snowdrop's KiteHer skin plunged into the dewy grass, droplets falling like tiny diamonds onto her bare foot. The wintry caress of the morning leaves enveloped her toes in a delicately frozen embrace. Her thin summer dress fluttered in the silver breeze, the frosty fabric lapping at her bare legs. The cold grasped like an icy toddler's chubby fist around her heart, but never did she feel any lack of sensation. Her tangled mane of fiery hair was damp in the morning rainfall, slithering in emaciated trails along her spine.

The Day My Cat Exploded Today was the day my cat exploded.

It wasn't spectacular – it just exploded with a furious carnage across the sitting room. Perhaps I shouldn't have let it bite the wires in the fuse box… The mess itself was uninspiring; the walls would need a good bleach attempt and the couch itself was ruined. I took my coat out of the cupboard and, shifting a stack of unopened bills and other pleasantries from infront of the door, made my way outside to go to my depressingly dreary work.

Past Tracks"Can I trust you? This place is a secret!" Dennis' blue eyes shone brilliantly in his round face that was now filling with excitement. "Ya, I won't tell a soul, cross my heart!"
But that was years ago. They had been children then, carefree and adventurous. Nicole stood alone now in warm October's air. Maybe it hadn't been a good idea to come back here, but when would she get another chance? It wasn't often her job in the city allowed her a visit home. Standing there now at the edge of her old forest playground, Nicole couldn't help trying to believe that not much had changed since her child hood; excuse perhaps the height of the trees and thPast Tracks by ~harmonissis

Reflections still look the same to me-Evan's thoughts swirled around the edges of his brain, following the motion of the whisky in his shooter. The alcohol buzzed down his throat and sent its echo throughout the rest of his body. He blinked as the dim lights that illuminated his corner of the bar buzzed and blurred. He lifted his glass slightly and brought it back down to the scarred countertop, the noise beckoning another filling. Evan liked the people here, they didn't cut him off. They didn't care.

Almost as soon as the thought finished drifting across what little consciousness was left, a rattling motion shook the far end of the bar. His gaze panned from right to left.

The River StyxWater swirls at the base, slowly creeping up the wall as the torrent thunders from underneath.
It is engulfing the room bottom-up with a greedy heavy darkness.
It is bone chilling and stings your heart as its many tongues taste the setting, the next victim.

You have fallen carelessly and stumbled across the hatch, searching for thrills or perhaps escape. You laugh as you peer down the hole, into the darkness, and nothing responds.

You feel nothing but assurance.

Unknowingly, almost unconsciously, you continue to toss down the pieces, pieces that drift into the darkness and are consumed by hell fire.

Hey, Remember When...Hey, do you remember that time that we tossed rocks across the lake? You were trying to show me how to skip them, but I ended up falling in and ruining my outfit; you thought it was hilarious, and I thought it was mortifying, but I laughed despite myself.

Hey, do you remember that time where you grabbed your batman cape, and I grabbed my night robe? We ran across my front yard for hours thinking we could fly and shooting pretend guns at each other, getting into hilarious arguments when we couldn't compromise on who shot who first.

MarmaladeEver since I was a little girl, I've had marmalade on my toast at breakfast, every breakfast.

It wasn't that I was particularly fond of it. By my teenage years it barely held any taste for me. It was just how it was. When I started making my own breakfast, nothing changed. Marmalade, toast and a cup of tea, every morning without fail sat in front of me in the mornings. When I come down the stairs to bacon and eggs today, however, I don't question it. Mum pats me on the head as she squeezes past, shovelling the food onto my plate. I sit down, stealing a quick glance at Dad who reads his paper without looking up. The Meaning of TearsShe watched detachedly as the tear slowly trickled around her finger. She guided it with slow movements until it was on the tip of her nail, and then she let it fall to the dewy grass below. It blended in well with the droplets of morning dew, and it was as if she'd never cried at all.

The wind ruffled her black dress, and she observed, still silent, as her tear droplet was blown away somewhere into the wind where it wouldn't bother her again. She thought she might cry again, but she decided that the energy needed to cry wasn't worth it. After all, her tears meant nothing and there was hardly a reason for them at all.

It all started with a pick up line, a night of unforgettable memories, and a love that would last longer than the lives it overtook.
She had said yes that night, for what reason? She doesn't know. But when you're not looking for love it seems to appear in the weirdest places and he was certainly a wierd one but that's why she loved him. She loved everything about him.
She was broken, looking for a lift. He was the one who had no idea, but he smiled like there was no tomorrow. When she had said yes she didn't know what would come of this, and she certainty didn't expect for him to be her forever and neither did he.

My Neighbor the Criminal: Prologue It was pitch black that night, and the only light was a soft glow that came from the lighted numbers on an alarm clock. Next to the mahogany bookshelf that housed many Stephen King books, and the alarm clock a girl laid in her medium-sized bed.

The clock would read 3:50 AM. But the girl who lay motionless in her bed was far from asleep. If you didn't know she was awake and walked in front of her face you would be startled when you saw her hazel eyes wide open and sparkling with excitment. You would ask her why she was still awake when she had to get up for school in only a few hours. She would answer you with a wide smile.

Hospital 18 The hospitals machines beeped and vibrated slowly. There was no breeze on the air, no spark in the cosmos. The room in the intensive care wing was dead and for Harry it felt like he had died too.

Time continued to pass for both of them; summer ended and changed into autumn, their universities came and went. Leaves fell from trees and were covered by snow.

A birthday.

Christmas.

The first of January, 2012.

Last NightLast night I watched the fireworks. They were bright. They were beautiful. Shimmering lights of blue, red, green, gold, silver, and white decorated the night sky. So much smoke rose into the atmosphere, adding a much more spectacular effect.

Odyssey Project II Chapter 1It wasn't until later, in his room, that Paul found the little vomit stain on his trousers. He regarded it with a little bit of surprise, having not noticed that the red-haired man had vomited at all. He'd been watching the whole time and nothing had come from the man's mouth as he had lain upon Paul.

Paul supposed he ought to not care, so he stripped off his trousers and put on a fresh khaki pair that he actually rather liked. As a rule, he'd never liked khaki, feeling that it made him seem to be more middle-aged than he really was. He was thirty, by God! In the prime of his life! Isn't that what they always said?

Maxxie's Birthday 9"It was a good idea having your party down here."

The beach and the sea spun voraciously as Maxxie quickly found himself unable to juggle the comments aimed at and around him. The little light came from the ever-growing fire embedded in the sand; the slow throb of a dirty bass-line from over-powered speakers distorting the flames.

This is a journal to let you know that #TeenWriters is back!
After a bit of a slow period we will be becoming more active here on D.A!
You may or may not have noticed but the monthly folders have been done away with, instead replaced with more user friendly yearly folders. There are four folders: Poetry, Prose, Typography and Story Chapters. If you do another style of writing and would like us to create a folder, just comment

WATCH THIS SPACE: a new contest is being planned! So polish up your writing skills and be ready!

I'm taking this chance to also feature one of our members, our most active member infact!

Yeah, sure, you can upload basically anything as long as it's writing. We don't really do quality control, just let people get their writing out there (or as 'out there' as in our groups gallery is XD).
So go ahead and upload your writing - we'd love to see it!
